The educational process of the coach

Socio-psychological impact on an athlete or team is realized, as a rule, through the educational work of a coach, which is an indispensable part of his activity at all stages of training athletes.

The need for continuous educational work is due to the fact that in the process of playing sports a person not only masters certain motor skills, develops physical qualities and increases the level of functional capabilities of the body, but also its social development as a member of society, the acquisition of certain behavioral stereotypes. The activities of the coach, sports and the whole situation in the sports team, the team also has a significant impact on the development of his personality, which can be both positive and negative.

Educational work with athletes should be focused, carried out on the basis of an integrated approach and carried out systematically. The main purpose of educational work is the formation of a harmoniously developed personality.

Educational work includes two relatively independent aspects: ideological, political and moral.

The ideological and political aspect of educational work with athletes involves the expansion of the political horizon, the formation of an advanced outlook, a critical attitude towards bourgeois ideology, and the fostering of a sense of patriotism.

The moral aspect of educational work involves the formation of athletes certain norms of behavior both in the process of doing sports and in everyday life, education of diligence, ability to concretely manifest a feeling of patriotism, ability to sacrifice personal interests for the interests of the team, aesthetic education, education of a valuable attitude to sports.

The complexity of the approach to educational work is realized on the basis of using various forms of educational work for solving educational tasks, the main of which are practically effective, informational, ideological and political.

Among the practically effective forms of educational work, the most acceptable are the following:

requirements for high discipline
the time for playing sports, observing the norms of behavior in everyday life, at work, etc .;
attracting athletes to perform various assignments or public works on the adjustment and repair of sports equipment, on duty at a sports camp, etc .;
attracting athletes to the organization and conduct of competitions and other events;
instructor's practice as an assistant coach, etc.
The use of these forms of educational work contributes to the formation of the athlete's rational structure of behavior, education of diligence, protects against the occurrence of high self-esteem and consumer ego-centric attitude in a team or team.

Information and educational forms of educational work with athletes suggest:

study and discussion of publications on the development of sports, its social and political importance, the problems of modern sports;
viewing and discussion of feature films, or television programs that affect socio-political or moral issues, as well as movies and television programs on sports topics;
collective discussion of works of fiction, visiting art and other museums;
conducting conversations about healthy lifestyles, behavioral norms, the dangers of smoking and alcohol, watching educational films on this topic or discussing articles on this issue;
attending lectures on various problems of sports training, socio-psychological and educational problems in sports.

The use of these forms of educational work broadens the athlete’s outlook, contributes to the formation of a correct understanding of the place of sport in the socialist way of life, moral norms of behavior, the formation of a system of social and spiritual values.
The ideological and political forms of educational work are realized by:

conducting political information, discussing state resolutions on the development of physical culture and sports, and the development of the national economy;
participation in parades, mass celebrations, memorials, grand opening and closing ceremonies;
meetings with participants of the Great Patriotic War, veterans of labor and sports.

It is necessary to use the specified forms of educational work taking into account the age of athletes, periods and stages of their sports training with the obligatory combination of practically-effective, informational-cognitive and ideological-political forms.

Naturally, the overall effect of educational work cannot be separated from the personality of the coach, his behavior, lifestyle, belief system and values. Therefore, one of the most important prerequisites for educational work with athletes is that the coach has a positive social orientation, a sufficiently broad and solid general education and political outlook, a deep understanding of the tasks of Soviet sports, a rational structure of behavior, and constant compliance with the norms of the socialist lifestyle.
